Music Scholarship Program
(still available as of Fall 2016; candidates currently being interviewed)
Due to a lot of musical tasks we have wanted to do, but not have the time for, which is a result of growing performance demands and new students, we are looking for an assistant to help us out with music related tasks, some directly involving the studio, and others related to performances, though there are some jobs that need to be done VERY soon, including categorizing/tagging approximately 450 of Meri's musical blog posts from over 7 years and home cleaning. We had one several ago (she graduated in May 2014 in music education at the University of Toronto), and very much appreciated the help, but could use one again. There is no financial compensation; however, you will be granted lessons at no cost to the student or parents.
Some of the tasks will include posting flyers in designated places, dropping off the lesson postcards in our neighbourhood, turning pages for Derrick when he’s playing the piano for our performances and the student performances, mailing our posters to churches and schools, and cleaning up after student concerts, updating the studio blog, categorizing and tagging for related topics on Meri's music blog, making small website edits, changes, and updates, organizing the sheet music and CD collections, plus other duties.
Preference will be given to a high school student who plays clarinet who plans to audition for university music programs who demonstrates financial need. However, we encourage piano students who are a mid to late intermediate level (Level 5 RCM and above) to apply.
Students and parents must pass an interview with the teachers, and be prepared to audition and/or show supporting documentation.
Contact us if you would like to apply.
